The upcoming half marathon is more special than usual: it’s the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend’s 15th Anniversary, giving everybody an extra reason to celebrate once they cross the finish line. This event isn’t just exciting; it’s historic!

The celebration is heavily inspired by Disney princesses and their support groups, whether their family, friends or talking animal sidekicks. Sarah Harris, the Disney Sports Social Community Manager, describes the princess’s support groups, describing them as:
The people they lean on, the people they care for, the people who came before them, and those who believe in what each of them can achieve. When these women are at their strongest, we see the inspiration behind their strength: the faces of their community.
Everything from the marathon to the princesses who have inspired it is incredibly empowering, especially for little girls who love to run.

Each medal showcases one of the iconic Disney princesses, accompanied by one of her sidekicks, symbols, or both. It also shows the distance run in order to earn a medal so that you can show off your accomplishment alongside a lovely princess.
As you can see in these photos, Princess Jasmine’s medal showcases 5K (or 3.1 miles), Princess Belle’s medal showcases 10K (or 6.2 miles), and Princess Moana’s medal signals 13.1 miles.
