As we get older, so do our favorite rides. Sometimes they’re refurbished into new rides, such as ’s Mr. Toad’s , which turned into The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Sometimes, our favorite childhood rides are dismantled entirely, such as Snow White’s Scary Adventures, which was taken down to make room for ’s Princess Fairy Tale Hall.
But other times, the classic rides operate and operate all day, all week, all month long for years at a time-you get the picture. So it makes sense that older rides may break down more often than others, but Guests visiting are starting to notice more than usual if this Reddit thread is anything to go by.

The original poster, u/dabug47, began the thread by posting a fairly innocent question: are there any statistics on how often rides break down?
They explained that they’ve used DAS (Disability Access Service) passes in the past, they’re visiting with their family soon, and how they’re afraid of being stuck on broken rides for a long time. Shortly after posting, the replies began pouring in.
Reddit user u/d33psix replied, writing,
Space, Big thunder and Rise were down from park entrance through most of the morning, overlapping with Indy and Matternhorn for part of the morning. Then pirates went down for big part of the day mid day til evening up til at least when we left.
And of course Indy broke down when we were on the steps down to the loading area. Common knowledge by now but legitimately, now has like literally a 50% hit rate for us having it shut down while in line or on the over the last year.

The thread continues in a similar fashion, with longtime fans of Parks sharing their personal experiences with how often rides break down during their visit. If perusing this social media thread makes you realize that Disney rides break down more often than they did when you were younger, you’re definitely not alone.
However, some Reddit users felt that it wasn’t a problem, while others pointed out that breakdowns can be the result of rides needing refurbishment.
Most importantly, plenty of Reddit users were quick to point out that Guests aren’t in danger if a ride becomes stuck or breaks down at a Disney Park, and that the Cast Members are trained to evacuate Guests safely and efficiently. It’s wholesome to see Disney fans coming together to help each other at times like these!
