Almost 7 Hour Wait for Disney Ride

Delayed Guardians

Long wait times are familiar at any theme Park–especially a Disney Park. But even if one expects a two or three-hour wait for Space Mountain, they certainly don’t expect to see a 400-minute wait for any ride.

With Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 (2023) recently released in theaters, there appears to be an increase in the popularity of Disney rides around that intellectual property. Although Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has seen its share of long wait times and sold-out Lightning Lanes, the attraction with the nearly seven-hour wait time is its cousin in Disney’s California Adventure Park.

Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! is one of the most popular attractions at Disney California Adventure. The former Tower of Terror ride was rethemed and reimagined in 2017 and is now the anchor attraction for the Avengers Campus, which debuted in 2021.

Three Reasons Why

Although the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (both iterations) experienced frequent breakdowns due to Disney’s rigorous safety standards, the long wait times recorded at California Adventure can also be attributed to excitement over the new Guardians movie, just released on May 5, 2023.

Perhaps many Disney Park visitors expected increased attraction due to the buzz surrounding the film. Still, it’s doubtful anyone expected a standby-wait time of six hours and 40 minutes.

Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! takes visitors on a thrilling journey through the galaxy as they help the Guardians escape their captors. Using a gantry lift system to propel riders up and down more than 100 feet in the air set to popular songs featured in the film series.

According to one fan, another reason for the long wait was;

“Only two carts working and delays due to someone removing seat belt mid ride for the tiktok trend.”

Hopefully, Disneyland Resort will sort this out, and the ride will be able to run at an acceptable rate.
