Best Rides for Adults in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the theme park that has undergone the most change in the last few years.  We have seen a huge transformation in multiple areas as new lands and rides have been added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Toy Story Land opened in 2018 welcoming Guests into Andy’s backyard with two new rides in Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers and the return of the beloved Toy Story Mania.  Almost a year later, in 2019 fans were invited into a galaxy far, far away as Galaxy’s Edge opened with Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run  and then later with the highly anticipated Rise of the Resistance.  Finally, 2020 saw the final piece of the transformation with the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.  So with all these rides it now brings up the question: what are the best rides for adults in Disney’s Hollywood Studios?  We have our top list so you can start planning your magical day in this transformed theme park.

Rise of the Resistance

It goes without saying that the top Hollywood Studios rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and really out of any Disney park is Rise of the Resistance.  Guests currently can choose to use the stand-by lane to experience this ride; however, starting October 19th Rise of the Resistance will be one of the two individual rides that Guests can choose to purchase to ride the day of their theme park visit.  We don’t know pricing on this individual ride feature, but it will be coming soon to stay tuned.  Rise of the Resistance is a fantastic attraction that truly puts Guests into the story like never before.  Guests will work with Rey, Poe and the Resistance as they work together to fight the First Order.  Guests move from scene to scene as they are captured by the First Order and rescued once again by the Resistance.  Keep your eyes opened as there is so much to see in each and every scene.  This is the top choice when it comes to attractions adults will enjoy in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and they don’t need to be a Star Wars fan to do so.

Millennium Falcon:  Smuggler’s Run

Many adults who are a Star Wars fan have probably dreamed of the day where they could fly the Millennium Falcon and now they can in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  Guests will either be a pilot, engineer or gunner on the Millennium Falcon as they work together to complete their mission.  Every flight is different and all three roles provide unique experiences so consider riding more than once.  This can cause some motion sickness so keep that in mind when choosing which role you want to fulfill.    The success of the ride depends on those working together to achieve the mission so pick your flight crew carefully.  Do you have what it takes to fly the Millennium Falcon?

Rock n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

For adults wanting to live in the fast lane, they will want to experience this high-speed roller coaster.  On Rock n’ Roller Coaster, Guests head backstage to hop in their limousine before being shot off into the night.  After an extreme launch, Guests get to see a variety of Hollywood landmarks as they experience 3 thrilling inversions at a high speed.  Even adults will enjoy screaming along with Aerosmith hit songs as they have the time of their lives rocking out. This is one of the more intense and the biggest thrill ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Walk down Sunset Boulevard and head into the 5th dimension as you visit the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel.  The adventure on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror starts with the abandoned courtyard and lobby all which seem like they have been frozen in time from the 1930s.  Get ready to board a service elevator as you travel into the Twilight Zone.  Strap in though as you will be unexpectedly dropping and rising before you know it.  Adults will love the thrill of the unknown that this attraction brings.  Once again consider riding a few times as each ride is unique making it thrilling each and every time.

Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster

Don’t be fooled by the kid-sh look of Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster, it is full of fun and laughs.  Adults will love the oversized toys that they zip, zoom and dart by as they are pushed to stretch their imagination along with their favorite Toy Story friends.  Slinky Dog will use his springy coils to stretch as you race along curves, zoom up hills and drop back down again.  This is super fun and one that adults should stop by while in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

The newest attraction to be added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios features the main mouse himself.  The first attraction in Disney World to feature Mickey Mouse, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is one that adults should make sure they hit up.  Adults will be amazed by the outstanding special effects used to bring this ride to life.  Climb all aboard the train as Goofy heads out  on a crazy adventure where there are twists and mind blowing transformations.  With free moving vehicles, there is no telling where you will end up.  Consider riding a few times to make sure you see all the magic that makes this ride special.

These are some of the rides that adults will enjoy while visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  There is so much fun to be had at this newly transformed park that you won’t want to miss out on all the adventures.  From traveling to Andy’s backyard to visiting a galaxy far, far away adults will have a fantastic time together at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  See what else there is to do in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
