For decades, James Bond has captivated audiences across film, books, and games. Now, IO Interactive is giving fans a new way to experience the iconic spy with “007 First Light”, a narrative-driven action-adventure game unveiled in full detail during Sony’s State of Play.
The reveal didn’t just highlight gameplay and cinematic sequences—it also confirmed the full cast stepping into MI6’s world.
Leading the charge is Patrick Gibson, known for last year’s Paramount+ prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. His Bond has yet to earn his double-0 designation. This bold move positions the game as an origin story, exploring the uncertainty, mistakes, and victories that shape the agent fans know. Watch the new video below:
One of the most notable additions is The Walking Dead‘s Lennie James, who plays John Greenway. Unlike M or Q, Greenway is a new creation—a field-tested mentor who partners with Bond in the early stages of his career. It’s a refreshing choice that adds depth and a personal touch to Bond’s development.
Priyanga Burford takes on M, bringing a new spin to the role previously held by Dame Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes. Burford’s casting is particularly noteworthy given her small part in No Time To Die (2021), now elevated to the head of MI6.

Supporting her are Kiera Lester (Death in Paradise) as Moneypenny, who seems to channel Naomie Harris’ interpretation in the Daniel Craig films, and Alastair Mackenzie (Andor Season 2) as Q, the Quartermaster responsible for Bond’s gadgets and vehicles.
Completing the roster is Noemie Nakai (Army of Thieves) as Miss Roth, the game’s Bond girl. Her involvement suggests a narrative balance between the classic allure of 007’s romantic entanglements and the more modernized, grounded approach.

The developers describe “007 First Light” as a thrilling mix of spy-craft, cinematic storytelling, and action-packed gameplay. Players will step into Bond’s shoes long before he’s a polished agent, facing both training trials and field missions.
Scheduled for release on March 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game is shaping up to be not just another tie-in, but a meaningful reintroduction of 007 to gaming audiences.
With its ambitious scope and carefully selected cast, “007 First Light” may be the boldest Bond project since Daniel Craig‘s first outing, Casino Royale (2006).
