From ghosts and ghouls to The Twilight Zone itself, Walt Disney World has many spooky experiences for Guests to brave if they dare on their next Disney vacation.
The Haunted Mansion’s 999 happy haunts provide a whimsical journey into the afterlife, while The Tower of Terror sends Guests into a thrilling ride into The Twilight Zone.
But what is actually the creepiest thing at Walt Disney World? Well, we think we’ve found the answer.
Walt Disney World in Florida has its After Hours Boo Bash and scary attractions across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but also has something unintentionally creepy.
The Mouselets revealed on their TikTok one of the eeriest things about Walt Disney World, and it is probably not what you expect:

The Mouselets reveal that the Native American animatronics seen on the Liberty Square Riverboat and the Walt Disney World Railroad never turn off:
This is one of the creepiest things about Disney. If you have ever been on the Liberty Square Riverboat or the Walt Disney World Railroad, you have probably seen the Native American animatronics. YouTuber Matt Sonswa revealed something very crazy!
The animatronics stay on all night, even after the Park has closed!
Creepy! To think they’re moving all night in the dark when the Park is empty. And this isn’t the only set of animatronics that don’t turn off at Walt Disney World.
The beloved Railroad has been closed since December 2018 to make way for the construction of the upcoming TRON attraction in Tomorrowland, but recently Guests have been noticing some testing of the trains. We’ll have to wait and see if the Railroad opens soon for Guests to be able to see these animatronics from a different angle than only on the Riverboat.
Many Guests have debated which Disney attraction is the most traumatizing ride to get stuck on, with Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and, interestingly, “it’s a small world” often high on the list.
Disney Guests often cite the catchy tune by the Sherman Brothers as the reason for the traumatizing breakdown experiences on the ride, with the “it’s a small world” song continuing on repeat while the dolls still dance.
And it is these dolls that give us the creepiest thing at a Disney Park:

The Mouselets go on to explain what happens after hours at the Magic Kingdom attraction:
The music turns off and so do the lights, but the dolls are moving 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So creepy!
Crazy, right? To think that once the Disney theme park closes to Guests, the “it’s a small world” dolls keep going through the night.
We always find the ventriloquist dummy on Tower of Terror creepy, but thinking that hundreds of dolls are dancing to silence inside the Fantasyland building when the Park is empty – creepy.
The only issue for fans of all things spooky is that this is something Guests will never get to see. It isn’t until the Magic Kingdom closes and the last Guest has left the Park that Cast Members turn off the music inside the attraction.
As a former Cast Member, I would often arrive in the early hours of the morning to start my shift inside Disney’s theme parks. The magic is never turned off – the lighting and the atmosphere all feel the same at 5 a.m., with many features of the Parks still running even when the Parks are empty.
The animatronics not being switched off is probably down to costs, with the technology and power it takes to turn them back on every morning costing more than it takes to keep them running.
So, next time you’re on “it’s a small world”, think about what it’s like every night inside the Walt Disney World theme park when the music has been turned off and the dolls continue to move.
