D23 has been treating fans to a plethora of new information on its opening day! We’ve already shared a few fantastic announcements regarding plans for Disneyland Resort. Last year, Disney announced that Toontown would be completely reimagined.
Details were limited, but fans were excited to discover that Southern California would receive an expanded version of Walt Disney World’s Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride. Today, Guests got to see the land in 3d, via a miniature model that included the new attraction.
In other news, a Tiana-inspired restaurant will be coming to New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park. The dining location, Tiana’s Palace, will be the perfect pairing with The Princess and the Frog (2009) retheme coming to Splash Mountain in 2024.
Disney California Adventure will be getting some upcoming alterations as well. It was announced today that Avengers Campus will be expanding! A new ride will be added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a Multiverse theme that will allow Guests to fight villains from anywhere.
A display at today’s event gave fans a rare glimpse into a highly anticipated Disney project 15 years in the making! Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) was the first movie in a hugely successful series of adventure films starring Harrison Ford.
Three sequels followed the original, and the last film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, co-starring Shia LaBeouf, was released in 2008. Shortly after its release, George Lucas began thinking about plotlines for a sequel, but the project was stalled for years.
Indiana Jones 5 has no official title yet, but it is scheduled to release in 2023. Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Indy, and new Cast Members will be added to the plot. Costumes for the highly anticipated film were on display, giving Guests a little taste of what’s to come next year.
Disney Tips will keep you posted on the latest news from D23 Expo 2022, along with updates about Indiana Jones 5!
