With so much magic in store at the Disneyland Resort in 2023, many fans hope to score Magic Key Passes that offer Disney Guests yearly admission to its two Southern California theme parks.
The practice goes all the way back to the 1980s in Disneyland history when the Park began offering its All-Inclusive Passport to Magic Kingdom Club members. However, it seems easier to gain access to an Annual Pass back then, as the Magic Keys sell out extremely fast, and Disneyland offers them in limited supply.

Previously, Disney Parks opened new Magic Key Holder slots in November 2022, with every opening selling out within 24 hours. Unfortunately, many Guests waited up to 12 hours in line to grab one of the coveted annual passes for Disneyland Park since this was the first time they had become available in over a year, only to face disappointment when their efforts did not pay off.
Of course, because the Magic Key offers extra benefits such as extra theme park reservations and Photopass perks in addition to “reservation-based admission to one or both Disneyland Resort theme parks throughout the year,” many local residents see the logic to purchasing a multi-use ticket, even if the new reservation system reduces the ease of access Annual Passholders once enjoyed. Today, Disney Parks Blog said it will “make select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023” as inventory frees up due to “the incredible ongoing demand for our Magic Key program.”

Certainly, this is great news for Guests hoping to have more flexibility in planning visits to Disneyland to experience new entertainment offerings like the March opening of Mickey’s Toontown after the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, along with like the Lunar New Year festival and World of Color — One at Disney California Adventure.
Even so, Disney has not yet specified which “select” passes will become available. This new release may not include all four Passholder tiers (Believe Key, Imagine Key, Enchant Key, Inspire Key/Dream Key). As usual, Magic Key holders will still need same-day Park reservations to enter, which Disney keeps limited and subject to availability.
