Disney fans feel that the runtime for the latest fireworks show, “Wondrous Journeys,” is too short.
As we know, Disney Parks has announced a plethora of new entertainment offerings in celebration of their Disney100 celebration, including the new nighttime spectacular, Wondrous Journeys. The anniversary, which will kick off at the Disneyland Resort in Southern California, will span across each Disney Park worldwide as well as a few other significant locations around the United States.

The new nighttime performance will feature a montage paying tribute to Disney films released by the Walt Disney Animation Studios during their long and storied history, along with an original score. What’s more, we can anticipate both pyrotechnic effects (on select nights) as well as dazzling projection mapping which will transform Sleeping Beauty Castle and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A.
To be specific, as per Disney Parks’ Twitter:
“Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland park will ignite the wonder in everyone and feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, taking viewers on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. Plus, feature a new song called “It’s Wondrous.”

Despite this, not all fans are that excited about the introduction of the new show, which will replace the long-standing Disneyland Forever fireworks, first introduced as part of Disneyland Park’s 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration. In fact, as one Twitter user shared, Disney Guests feel for a dazzling spectacle, Wondrous Journeys is too short.

However, as Disney reporter Scott Gustin pointed out, Wondrous Journeys actually has a 13-minute runtime, which is “roughly about the same” as its predecessor. Moreover, the show will likely only premiere for a limited time as part of the 100 year festivities and is not intended to become permanent just like Disneyland Forever itself.
Indeed, it looks like fans will just have to wait until the fireworks show premieres to form their true opinions. Perhaps, Disney will add some sort of intriguing pre-show to mollify Guests, maybe even one like Disneyland Paris’ Mickey-shaped drones?

Regardless, there’s plenty more to do at the Disney Resort soon besides this show if it’s not your cup of tea, like the accompanying special version of World of Color, One, at Disney California Adventure Park, the return of Magic Happens Parade, and the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Select Guests can even save on room reservations right now at on-property locations like the Disneyland Hotel.
Wondrous Journeys debuts at the Disneyland Resort on January 27, 2023, as part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder celebration! For more information, click here.
