Disney’s Next Nighttime Spectacular Will Showcase All 60 Animated Films

The 2022 D23 Expo just wrapped up with its last full day of panels and special events, and today’s updates might just be the most exciting of them all.

Over the course of the day, Disney fans heard about exciting new announcements for Disneyland, Walt Disney World, international theme parks and Disney Cruise Line. Many of the announcements out of Disney Parks included never before seen concept art and initial details at upcoming fireworks spectaculars, and the new shows look truly incredible.

At the Disneyland Resort, one of the newest fireworks spectaculars will also serve as the kick-off to the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company in honor of its founding in 1923. Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro shared with fans at D23 that the company’s centennial celebration will have a special focus on the Disneyland Resort.

While special events will take place at Disney Parks around the world, and fans will be invited to get involved with the milestone anniversary at home, D’Amaro mentioned that the bulk of the festivities will be coming to Disneyland Park.

As such, the Disney Park will be receiving a brand new nighttime fireworks spectacular worthy of such an incredible celebration. “Wondrous Journeys” is set to debut in January on and above Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Park.

The breathtaking new nighttime spectacular will not only wow Guests watching the show from Main Steet U.S.A., but it will also keep the theme of the company’s centennial as the show will feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films released prior to its debut.

The official Disney Parks Twitter account described Wondrous Journeys as:

“Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland park will ignite the wonder in everyone and feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, taking viewers on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. Plus, feature a new song called “It’s Wondrous.”

Fans in the audience at D23 were even treated to a “first listen” of the new original song that will be featured in the new nighttime spectacular. And along with Wondrous Journeys, the Disney Parks Blog confirms that “Special entertainment moments will also pop up across the resort, including the long-awaited return of the ‘Magic Happens’ parade in spring.”

At this time, we do not have a more specific date for the debut of Wondrous Journeys other than January 2023, but we will continue to follow updates on the newest nighttime spectacular to arrive at Disneyland and will update you as we know more here on DisneyTips.
