Disney Cancels Upcoming Changes to Genie+

Disney Genie+ has been changing frequently since the new system officially replaced FastPass+ last year.

Working within the My Disney Experience app, the service allows Guests to pay for Genie+ as an add-on to their theme park tickets to select a time to experience a number of Disney Park attractions with little or no wait. The other component of Disney Genie+, Individual Lightning Lane selections, allow Guests to choose a time to ride some attractions that are not included in the standard Genie+ lineup for an added fee.

When Disney Genie+ launched, the company pointed out that one of the major factors that would lead to the program’s success was its ability to change based on Guest needs. We have already seen multiple changes to the system, with attractions moving in and out of the Individual Lightning Lane lineup. We even recently reported on changes set to arrive on Disney Genie+ later this week that made us question if the system is worth the purchase.

Now, Disney has once again updated Genie+, this time to remove the announcement that several attractions would be changing their availability on August 7, 2022.

Previously, the My Disney Experience app and the official Disney World website noted that after August 7, 2022, Space Mountain, Frozen Ever After, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Expedition Everest would be moving to individual Lightning Lane purchases.

Today, Disney’s website has removed this update meaning these attractions will remain part of the Disney Genie+ lineup (available for $15 per person per day) following August 7, 2022.

Given our thoughts on how this change could impact the value of Disney Genie+, it seems fans with late summer trips to the Walt Disney World Resort will be pleased with this update (or lack thereof) as they will still be able to use to Lightning Lane entrance when available for those attractions without the additional upcharge.

We will continue to monitor any further changes to Disney Genie+ and will share any updates you need to know before your next trip here on DisneyTips.
