From its theme parks at Walt Disney World in Florida, Disneyland in California, Tokyo Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris to its Disney Cruise Line itineraries, there’s no end to the Disney magic for Guests.

But did you know that Disney has a little spot in Yellowstone National Park?

The Magic of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Nestled near Magic Kingdom Park in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort is a breathtaking Deluxe Disney Hotel that captures the rugged beauty of the American West. This resort offers immersive theming, top-tier dining, refreshing pools, and luxurious yet rustic accommodations that transport Guests into a world inspired by the great lodges of national parks.

Opened in May 1994, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area, near Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Disneyland Guests may recognize the similar design and theming of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in Anaheim, California.

The Inspiration Behind Wilderness Lodge

Disney Imagineers meticulously crafted Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to reflect the grandeur of the American West, complete with geysers, rustic influences, and log cabin-style architecture. Guests can enjoy exquisite dining at Storybook Dining at Artist Point, Whispering Canyon Café, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, Roaring Fork, and Territory Lounge. For water lovers, the resort features the Copper Creek Springs Pool, which boasts a 67-foot waterslide, and the serene Boulder Ridge Cove Pool.

The architectural brilliance of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge draws direct inspiration from the Old Faithful Inn, located in Yellowstone National Park. Designed by renowned architect Peter Dominick, the resort incorporates towering lodgepole pine structures, authentic totem poles, and an 82-foot stone fireplace, mirroring the colorful rock layers of the Grand Canyon.

The Old Faithful Inn: A Historic Treasure

Built between 1903 and 1904, the Old Faithful Inn is one of the most famous and historic lodges in the United States. Constructed using local lodgepole pine and rhyolite stone, it was ahead of its time, featuring electric lights and steam heating—luxuries in the early 20th century.

Today, the Old Faithful Inn remains one of the largest log hotels in the world and is recognized as a National Historic Landmark. As a member of Historic Hotels of America, the Inn continues to captivate visitors with its iconic design. In a survey conducted by the American Institute of Architects, it ranked 36th among the 150 favorite buildings in the U.S.
