Disney World Roller Coaster Breaks Down Trapping Guests

This may have put a damper on some Guest’s day at the Parks. As we’ve previously reported, things happen! At Walt Disney World, they encourage Guests to indulge in the magic, feel like a little kid at heart, and enjoy all the Parks offer. “The Most Magical Place On Earth” offers so much within the four Parks at Walt Disney World that it’s hard to have a bad time.

During a trip to a Disney Park, you may encounter closures for attractions. Just like a car, sometimes attractions need fine-tuning. In the same way your vehicle may need an oil change, the boats in “it’s a small world” may need the hands of an Imagineer to keep the ride up and moving on a daily basis. Sure, it can be disappointing to visit a Park when your favorite ride is down due to maintenance or issues, but it will often become available again the same day.

Disney tries effortlessly to keep the Parks as magical as possible. Unfortunately, things happen, though, and can sometimes reveal the behind-the-scenes work they so tirelessly try to keep out of Guests’ eyesight. Like the Headless Horseman falling during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The fall was more terrifying, ensuring the Cast Member and horse were okay, than anything else, but it brought about an element of reality while in the Disney bubble.

Disney Attraction Closures

Attraction closures happen, too, and there’s not much that can be done until the ride is ready to be used again. But what happens when the ride closes while you’re still on it? For those who have visited Walt Disney World, it’s not uncommon to hear the announcement during “its a small world”, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid, or Haunted Mansion. Those rides are slow-moving vehicles where you patiently sit and wait for it to begin moving again. Additionally, those rides are indoors and offer air conditioning.

One Guest experienced a different kind of closure recently while riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom. As shown in the TikTok below, the roller coaster came to a halt mid-ride with a full train of Guests aboard.

“This situation is nerve-wracking enough, but for guests seated at the front of the coaster, it has the potential to become dangerous as they’ve become trapped in the hot Florida sun,” Disney Dining explained. As shown in the video, they were (luckily) stopped near the stairs, which means, hopefully, a Cast Member was able to rescue the Guests and walk them off of the ride.

Although there was no official update on how long the Guests were there or the issues the ride endured, it’s never fun to be stuck in the hot sun. Disney describes Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as, “Deep inside an age-old mountain, clamber into a rustic mine train and make your way up a steep incline.” These Guests, unfortunately, got stuck right on that “steep incline.”
