Disney to Temporarily Close EPCOT Attraction this Summer

Disney Park Guests have seen a lot of changes and closures lately at Walt Disney World theme parks.

From the continued closure of the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom and Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to the recent refurbishment of Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the attraction list at Disney Parks has been fluctuating greatly.

Now, we’ve noticed another closure coming to the Walt Disney World Resort, and this time, it’s over in EPCOT.

EPCOT is currently going through an exciting transformation, with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction, the new Connections Eatery, as well as Future World being replaced with three new neighborhoods: World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.

With the International Flower and Garden Festival in full swing at the Disney Park, EPCOT seems to be the place to be for Guests wanting to try new rides, new menus, and see beautiful character topiaries.

To make way for the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, however, one EPCOT attraction will be closing temporarily this summer.

The Canada pavilion is part of EPCOT’s World Showcase, located next to the United Kingdom pavilion. The beautiful Pavilion features a canyon, a waterfall, gardens, and its famous totem poles. The main attraction is Canada: Far and Wide, a Circle-Vision 360° movie narrated by Canadian actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy that replaced the original O Canada! presented by Martin Short.

Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360° will be closed from June 27 onward for EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival. The attraction’s theater is usually used for the Appleseed Orchard marketplace.

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begins on July 14 and will run through November 19, 2022. Canada Far and Wide looks set to reopen a day or two after the festival ends. Disney’s official website for the Canadian attraction describes it as: “Explore Canada in a newly updated edition of the classic, 12-minute EPCOT Circle-Vision 360 presentation.”

Disney Park fans of Mei Lee (Rosalie Chiang) and her red panda alter-ego have been able to celebrate Domee Shi’s Turning Red (2022) in Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park since the movie’s March Disney+ release. The main character Mei Lee is Chinese-Canadian, and so the Canada pavilion in EPCOT has been celebrating in a delicious way.

At the Canada Popcorn Cart, Guests can try the Pand-Ade, a coconut-pomegranate lemonade with pomegranate boba pearls, until May 31.

And over at the beloved Le Cellier Steakhouse, Guests can try a new Turning Red menu, available until May 31. There’s a new Beef Stir Fry Poutine, Shrimp & Pork Dumplings, and the Turning Red Cake, made of citrus and vanilla chiffon cake, with raspberry coulis and fresh strawberries.
