Tiana's Bayou Adventure look

First Look at Princess Tiana’s Updated Outfit for Her New Disney Parks Ride

The first-ever Disney Park attraction inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009) is coming to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and we just learned some new details about how Princess Tiana will look in her upcoming ride.

The attraction is set to replace Splash Mountain in both Frontierland at Disneyland Park and the Magic Kingdom, and the ride will keep the track and layout but feature a brand new storyline and theming set in the story of The Princess and the Frog. Guests on the attraction will be immersed in Tiana’s story after her final kiss with Prince Naveen as seen in the film, as she prepares for a Mardis Gras celebration.

Named Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the attraction is set to open at both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at a date to be determined in the year 2024.

As part of the new Princess and the Frog-themed attraction, Princess Tiana will be receiving a new look, perfect for setting out on an adventure through the bayou. Lead Imagineer on the project Charita Carter has been working alongside Disney Costume Designer Ida Muldrow to create Tiana’s new look.

The new outfit for the iconic Disney Princess is the result of Imagineering’s research on trends from the 1920s when the story of The Princess and the Frog takes place.

Muldrow told the Disney Parks Blog:

Tiana was equally at home in the bayou as she was at a banquet. We wanted her look to reflect that, and be a compliment to the story’s setting.

In addition to developing a new outfit for Tiana, Carter and Muldrow are designing her appearance based on hairstyles unique to Black women’s hair with inspiration from Tiana’s personality and style. As the first ever Black Disney Princess, and where it is Tiana’s first attraction at a Disney Park, lots of research and thought will be going into creating her look in a way that resonates with Black women and her character alike.
