This week has been a whirlwind of news out of the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, with several exciting new changes coming to the theme parks and hotels on both coasts throughout this year.
From changes to Park Hopping, to relaxed restrictions for Annual Passholders, and the return of a long-missed benefit for Disney Resort Guests, we can’t forget about some of the most exciting news: New and returning nighttime spectaculars at both the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

In EPCOT, Disney just confirmed that Harmonious, the nighttime fireworks spectacular that debuted for the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort in 2021 will be coming to an end this April. Disney previously announced that a new show will take its place (as was revealed during the 2022 D23 Expo), however, yesterday’s update also shared that EPCOT Forever will be returning for a short time as an interim show.
While EPCOT Forever had been used in the past to prep World Showcase Lagoon for Harmonious, the show’s return will give Disney’s entertainment team time to remove the barges that were created for the last nighttime spectacular at the theme park. As such, Disney fans who have loathed seeing the barges in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon during the day will be thrilled to learn that they will not be a part of the Park for much longer or a part of the new show.

In the official announcement that included details on the closure of Harmonious, Disney stated:
Similar to how it appeared in 2021, “EPCOT Forever” is the perfect offering while our Entertainment team preps the Lagoon, including a phased removal of fireworks platforms following the final “Harmonious” performance on April 2.
Of course, Disney has not yet confirmed details of the fireworks show that is set to come after the next run of EPCOT Forever, and while fans are likely hoping that the new barges are less obstructive, we do not know what will be coming to World Showcase Lagoon in the future.
Will you miss Harmonious after its final performance this spring? Or, will you simply be happy to see the barges go? As always, we will continue to monitor updates on nighttime spectaculars and entertainment around Walt Disney World here on Disney Tips.
