The Rare Disney Character Experience That Has Been Called A “Nightmare”

Walt Disney World is full of unique experiences that truly make magic for Guests on their Disney vacation.

From incredible shows like The Festival of the Lion King to thrilling rides like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, there are multiple ways for Guests to make magical memories at the Walt Disney World Resort.

But what about those rare Disney moments that make your vacation go from special to extra-special? A favorite character waving to you from a Magic Kingdom parade? A free Lightning Lane entry for a popular theme park attraction? Or even a free dessert for your birthday from a Disney dining location?

Well, some Disney World Guests got a very rare experience this week, but one that left some Disney fans creeped out.

Spotting your favorite Disney characters around Disney Parks is one of the most magical experiences that Guests young and old can have.

From meeting Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom to seeing Stormtroopers in Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, there are so many characters roaming Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks.

On special event evenings like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Guests are treated to rare character meet and greets. Guests can look forward to spotting Robin Hood, Tarzan, Jane, Clarabelle Cow, Tiana, Disney villains, and, of course, all seven dwarfs!

But an extremely rare character made a surprise appearance this week at a Magic Kingdom event, and it has left Guests divided. Twitter user ‘off-brand elsa’ posted a video this week of beloved Disney character Dumbo the Elephant walking around Fantasyland, exclaiming much excitement at seeing the rare Disney character out and about:

ARE WE KIDDING ????

Dumbo the Elephant made a special appearance at the Disney Creators’ Celebration, and can be seen in the video greeting Guests. Dumbo, from Disney’s 1941 animated movie of the same name, is a super-rare character to be seen at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, and some Guests may not even be aware that the famous elephant even walks the Parks.

The character has created debate, however, with many Guests celebrating Dumbo’s cuteness, while others questioning the costume’s “creepy” eyes and small trunk.

Dumbo walks in the video in an adorably unbalanced manner, and stops to wave with his trunk. His eyes, though, are wide and staring, and have caused some Guests to call the rare character “nightmare fuel” in the comments of the video shared by ‘off-brand elsa’ on social media.

We’ll let you decide if Dumbo is cute or nightmare inducing, but we can all agree that it’s very exciting to see such a rare Disney character doing meet and greets in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!

Dumbo was seen in Storybook Circus, an area inspired by the Disney animated film Dumbo (1941). Filled with bright colors and circus posters, the Magic Kingdom theme park land is home to several attractions, including The Casey Jr. Soak ā€˜Nā€™ Splash Station, Goofy’s Barnstormer, and the popular ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant, with two sides flying in opposite directions.
