James Bond is making a major comeback—not just on the silver screen but also in the gaming world. While Amazon MGM’s reboot, directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Dune: Part Two) with a script from Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), continues to generate headlines, fans don’t have to wait until the film arrives to get their next dose of 007 action.
IO Interactive, the studio behind the acclaimed Hitman franchise, is set to deliver a brand-new gaming chapter for the world’s most famous spy. Titled “007 First Light,” the third-person action-adventure is finally showing off more of its high-octane gameplay.
A new trailer debuted during Sony’s latest State of Play showcase, highlighting stealth sequences, shootouts, and cinematic missions that put players directly in Bond’s polished shoes. Watch the new trailer below:
Leading the charge is Irish actor Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin), who takes on the mantle of Bond. Unlike Daniel Craig’s gritty veteran spy, Gibson’s Bond, who’s only 26, is at the start of his journey, navigating the perilous road toward becoming a licensed 00 agent.
Along the way, familiar MI6 figures like M, Q, and Moneypenny have also been reimagined for this new story, while a rogue 00 agent takes the role of primary antagonist.

The comparisons to the legendary “GoldenEye” (Nintendo 64’s hugely successful 1997 title) are already swirling, and IO Interactive seems more than eager to deliver something worthy of that legacy. If the new gameplay footage is anything to go by, “First Light” looks poised to balance sleek espionage with blockbuster action in true Bond fashion.
Set for release on March 27, 2026, “007 First Light” will be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, and Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console. With both the film reboot and the game in the pipeline, it’s shaping up to be a massive new era for James Bond.
