On December 3, 2018, Florida Guests said farewell to the iconic Walt Disney World Railroad located in Magic Kingdom Park. The train is temporarily closed due to construction on an exciting new attraction, TRON Lightcycle Run.
Recently, Twitter account @bireconstruct shared progress on the attractions. The tweet shows a picture of a tunnel traveling through the new roller coaster. In the post, you can see that bolts for the railroad track are already in place.

A walkway can also be seen in the photo, which will allow Guests to access the Storybook Circus area. Visitors of Walt Disney World Resort have missed the railroad as they await TRON Lightcycle’s much-anticipated completion.
The roller coaster is inspired by Disney’s sci-fi series, which includes an original film entitled TRON (1982) and a sequel entitled TRON: Legacy. A third installment of the series, which has a cult following, is rumored to arrive in 2025 on Disney+.
Entitled Tron: Ares, the movie will star Jared Leto, who refers to the film as his passion project. Disney Parks Blog recently shared that Walt Disney Imagineering is hard at work on the new ride, which is in its testing stage.
Guests have been posting test runs all over social media, and can’t wait for the roller coaster to hit Tomorrowland. Shanghai Disneyland already has its own, original version of the attraction, TRON Lightcycle Power Run.
The Walt Disney World Railroad takes Guests on a scenic 20-minute round trip around Magic Kingdom Park. Guests can board and disembark the train at three stations, Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland.
It will be thrilling for Walt Disney World Guests to take a ride aboard the beloved attraction as it travels on its new route through Tron Lightcycle Run. Disney fans have a lot of exciting experiences to look forward to!
Disney has yet to release an opening date for the Walt Disney World Railroad and Tron Lightcycle Run, but it looks like the Park may be nearing the final stages of the project. We will update you as soon as we hear news of their opening!
