Fans of the annual Lunar New Year festivities at the Disney Parks will be glad to hear the celebration will return in 2023 with all-new entertainment and culinary cuisine! Read on to learn more about all the magic in store for Disney fans during the Year of the Rabbit!
The Lunar New Year Celebration, which honors both the Chinese and Vietnamese zodiac calendars, pays homage to a variety of traditions stemming from the Asian communities within California. This year’s celebration includes elements of Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures as they pay tribute to both the Chinese Year of the Rabbit, and the Vietnamese Year of the Cat.

The Disneyland Resort in Southern California has hosted a Lunar New Year event since 2013. While the earliest special celebrations only lasted five days at a time, the ceremony has evolved over the years into an exhilarating multi-cultural jubilee !
Typically, the celebration includes family fun activities like Chinese calligraphy demonstrations and an opportunity to add your message to the Lucky Wishes Wall for prosperity in the coming year. Plus, in addition to tasty treats at the Lucky Fortune Cookery and Paradise Garden Grill, the New Year marketplace will feature two all-new booths with sweet and savory selections to enjoy!

Specifically, Wrapped with Love and Bamboo Blessings join the returning Lucky 8 Lantern, Prosperity Bao & Buns, Red Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. as part of the festival’s offered Sip and Savor pass. Disney has yet to release detailed information on the culinary variety planned for this year’s marketplace, so be sure to check back for updates!
What’s more, in addition to “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” and the opportunity to meet and greet with some of your favorite characters, Disney California Adventure will once again present “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration.” The nighttime water show debuts each night prior to World of Color and follows the journey of a little lantern to the annual celebration of good fortune.

Guests should check the Disneyland app for showtimes and character set times. Furthermore, as a reminder, the event Sip and Savor pass is only valid for the Lunar New Year celebration dates and do not include theme park admission or reservation for the Disneyland Resort.
