The New Disney Experience You’re Going to Wish Was for Adults

disney-wish-stitch

There are plenty of experiences at Disney Parks that are aimed at younger Guests. From “it’s a small world” and TriceratopSpin to Alien Swirling Saucers and Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Walt Disney World is filled with magic for young children.

No rides at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, however, are designed so that only children can ride them – adults can ride every attraction in the theme parks. If a Walt Disney World Resort attraction has no height requirement, then adults can bring small children and babies onto that attraction on their lap if required.

But what if we told you there is a new Disney area just for kids that you are definitely going to be jealous about? They can design their own rollercoaster (and then ride it!), play with Porgs, and train to be a new Marvel superhero.

Yep, it all sounds like adults should get a look-in too, right?

Well, this new experience for kids can be found on the new Disney Wish cruise ship!

The Disney Wish is Disney’s most elegant cruise ship to date and features a number of brand new experiences — including the first-ever “attraction at sea”, the Aquamouse, as well as a Frozen dining experience, and a gorgeous, enchanted forest-themed Walt Disney Theatre. This all-new luxury liner also has a first-of-its-kind Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge, a Toy Story splash pad, and an incredible Marvel dining experience that has Guests part of the MCU itself.

And aboard the luxurious new Disney Cruise Line ship, kids can enjoy the wonders of Disney’s Oceaneer Club!

This exciting playspace is exclusive to children ages 3 to 12 and features a variety of amazingly-themed locations with activities led by Disney Cast Members. Child care doesn’t get better than this!

And to get adults jealous immediately, a slide magically appears in the Grand Hall on deck 3 to transport children directly into the central hub of Disney’s Oceaneer Club on deck 2. Let’s just say that on day 1, we definitely had a go at the slide!

Disney’s Oceaneer Club is made up of an array of differently-themed spaces to entertain young Guests, including Marvel Super Hero Academy, Star Wars: Cargo Bay, and Walt Disney Imagineering Lab. We couldn’t believe our eyes as we explored the kids’ club deck of the ship – the theming of these areas is just impeccable.

The Marvel Super Hero Academy helps young “recruits” train to be the next generation of superheroes with activities like “Avengers: Mission Training,” a gesture-based game where children design their own super suits and virtually fight enemies. Furthermore, popular MCU characters such as Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ant-Man make an appearance in the Academy – something we wish we adults could be a part of!

The Star Wars: Cargo Bay features a first-of-its-kind interactive experience called “Star Wars: Creature Challenge,” where kids become handlers and learn to manage mischievous, exotic creatures from across the galaxy. This is where young Star Wars fans can meet a very cute Porg, and have all their Jedi dreams come true. They can even join an important mission to help Rey and Chewbacca use the Force and rescue the ship from destruction.

A place we’re sure all adults would want to be able to access is the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab. This magical location allows kids to discover the secrets of Disney Imagineers with hands-on activities and experiments. Children can create their own roller coaster and then climb into a capsule where they virtually ride their masterpiece at the Ride Studio! Sign us up, now!

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck is a really well-themed and colorful nautical playground for kids that is home to the signature experience “Minnie’s Captain Academy.” During this high-energy training session, kids will play games, dance, and participate in maritime “drills” that test their imagination during fun challenges tied to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

And finally, our favorite area of them all was Fairytale Hall, which boasts a royal trio of activity rooms all beautifully designed and immersively thought-out. Kids can do arts and crafts in Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and perform their favorite stories at Belle’s Library (complete with enchanted fireplace), and hang out with Olaf at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus. Seriously, Disney did an incredible job with this regal space.

Older kids can enjoy two other spaces with a less cartoon-like feel. Edge is the club on the Disney Wish cruise ship designed for kids ages 11-14, and is designed to feel like a  New York City loft apartment. Vibe is for older teens (ages 14 to 17), with plenty of gaming areas, and is inspired by an artist’s loft in Paris. And for the littlest cruisers ages 6 months to 3 years, the It’s a Small World Nursery offers babysitting services in a wonderfully cute environment.

Oh, and don’t get us started on the AMAZING bathrooms down on the kids’ lower decks. They have Pixar-themed bathrooms – each door is colorfully decorated around favorite Pixar characters such as Miguel, WALL-E, Woody, Buzz, Dory, and Nemo – as well as some pretty cool hand-washers. What a bathroom!

So, when is Disney Cruise Line going to introduce an “Adults Night” down in the kids club? We know we want to try out the Marvel Academy and the build-your-own rollercoaster activity!

The Wish is the fifth ship in the DCL fleet, joining the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder. The latest ship announced by Disney Cruise Line is named Treasure, and like the Disney Wish, the two upcoming ships are expected to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. Disney has not yet announced a date when construction will begin on the Disney Treasure.

Sails aboard the Disney Wish are available for booking for 4 and 5-day Bahamian cruises out of Port Canaveral with stops at Castaway Cay, with complete reservation information available on DisneyCruiseLine.com.
