Small Fire Temporarily Shut Down Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Yesterday

Yesterday was an eventful day for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith for Guests and Cast Members. Around 2:38 p.m., guess reported seeing smoke as they were being evacuated from the ride and line at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Karen Owens shared this on Twitter:  “Rock n roller coaster evacuated. Based on smoke and smell guessing fire. They are clearing the whole area in this courtyard so I’m definitely leaning towards fire #evacuation #travel #disney”

Owens explained that they “evacuated & waited around. They advised an unknown downtime. We were in line when they cut the lights on & evacuated us. We saw & smelled smoke/haze at the end tunnel as we walked out.”

Tara Lee Donahue shared: “I heard a guest say they called 911 from the ride and was told emergency serviced had already been dispatched.”

There was another Guest that reported calling 911 around that same time, but was told that emergency services had already been dispatched.

We were told by a maintenance Cast Member who wishes to remain anonymous: “That’s there was a small fire in a drive wheel motor that was quickly put out. There was no major damage and the ride has resumed today”

As you can see Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is back up and running, and this has not stopped people from wanting to ride this exciting roller coaster.  We are glad that no one was hurt and that there was no damage done.
