In the past year, Disney Park fans have seen the Splash Mountain ride at Disneyland Park in Anaheim and the Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort close permanently. Both versions of the iconic water flume attraction are set to be rethemed around Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009).

The new ride will feature original audio animatronics based on characters from the animated film, such as Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Mama Odie, and the jazz loving alligator Louis. It will also contain original Disney characters and have a plot that follows their story after the movie ends.
It will also contain original music inspired by the film.

The new ride will follow the same ride system and track layout as Splash Mountain, including the five-story plunge at the end. But some online rumors have signaled that the end finale for the theme Park ride won’t exactly be the same.
Retheme Rumor
According to Splash Mountain Archives on Twitter, the final audio animatronic scene with the large riverboat will be “drastically altered.”
Many have speculated that the riverboat would remain due to The Princess and the Frog (2009) taking place in New Orleans – providing a perfect chance to include the concept of a Mississippi riverboat.

The new rumor is that the finale scene of Splash Mountain, where the characters from Song of the South (1946) sing the Oscar-winning number “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah,” will now feature a facade of Tiana’s Palace.
Although we cannot officially confirm this detail, nor has Disney commented on specific changes, we are labeling it a rumor. It could easily be true, but Walt Disney Imagineering will likely keep any and all changes very close to the chest as they want the mystery of the attraction to maintain.
