It’s the biggest Walt Disney World Resort question: when is Fantasmic! returning to Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
When the show eventually returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort, new characters will be joining Mickey in his imagination. The show will see new scenes from Moana (2016), Frozen (2013), and Aladdin (1992), replacing the current Pocahontas scene with Governor Ratcliffe and John Smith.
In the meantime, a magical photo op has been revealed that celebrates the Disney nighttime spectaular.

Who wouldn’t want to be Mickey as he appears to Guests with a flash of pyrotechnics?! During the finale of Fantasmic!, Mickey appears atop the highest point of the mountain in his Sorcerer outfit as fireworks, fire, and water light up the stage. Paired with the iconic soundtrack, the finale is renowned for bringing many Guests to tears.
Well, it seems that some lucky Disney fans had their Fantasmic! dreams come true with a special photo op. Jeffrey R. Epstein, Vice President of Corporate Communications at The Walt Disney Company, shared the amazing photo on Twitter:

The photo showcases Disney magic at its finest, with a scene set up for Disney fans to live their Fantasmic! dreams. The logo of Disney’s Hollywood Studios show is seen in the background, while Epstein holds out his hands wide to look like Mickey Mouse with his pyrotechnic effects.
Epstein reveals that the magical photo opportunity was sadly only part of a Disney media event, but we truly hope that Walt Disney World brings this photo op to the Parks when Fantasmic! makes its grand return.
Fantasmic! has been missing from the Disney Parks ever since they reopened following pandemic closures back in 2020. Fantasmic! is one of Disney’s most beloved shows, featuring characters like Mickey Mouse, Ariel, Maleficent, Tinker Bell, and more. The biggest question on everyone’s lips is “when is Fantasmic! returning to Walt Disney World?”

Fantasmic! could be found pre-pandemic at both Disneyland in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and was recently added to Tokyo DisneySea. The popular Disney show is about the power of the imagination, showcased by Mickey experiencing a spectacular dream.
Back in November 2021, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro revealed that Fantasmic! will be returning to both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland in 2022. We know now that on May 28, 2022, Fantasmic! will be making its return to Disneyland Park, but we’re still not sure when the official return of Fantasmic! will be at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios theme park.
The Hollywood Hills Amphitheater was recently seen to be drained once again in aerial photos, which did not give us much hope for a Summer grand return.
But with Disney Parks continually surprising us with big news and returns of fan-favorite entertainment like the Main Street Electrical Parade, Disneyland Forever, World of Color, and Festival of Fantasy parade, maybe soon Fantasmic!’s return date will be revealed at the Walt Disney World Resort!
