Located in the Sunset Boulevard section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the ride takes you on a creepy journey up and down a haunted elevator from years past. As you enter, you can hear the vintage tv show’s iconic catchphrase ringing through your ears, “You’re about to enter… The Twilight Zone!”

The thrilling attraction is based on The Twilight Zone (1959) tv series, which aired for five seasons. Upon arriving at the hotel, Guests encounter a dusty, old lobby employed by strange hotel staff.

The backstory is that one night on Halloween in 1939, a storm struck the building while Guests were riding the elevator. After that, they disappeared, never to be seen again!

Visitors should be cautious with younger Guests, as the ride is intense and features quick drops in a dark, enclosed space. In order to experience the attraction, Park-goers are required to be at least 40 inches tall.

Disney’s official description of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror reads:

Enter the rickety, elevator-style lift, strap yourself in and prepare to discover what lies beyond the darkest corner of your imagination.

Shriek in terror as you’re suddenly propelled up and down the abandoned shaft-unexpectedly dropping and rising-as you hear the sound of cables snapping and metal clanging overhead.

Will you make it back to the real world… or will you become a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone?

Currently, the ride opens daily at 8:30 a.m. with early theme Park entry available at 8:00 a.m. for Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Make sure to get there as soon as you can to see if you can snag a spot in the Hollywood Tower Hotel’s guestbook!
