One thing that makes the Walt Disney World Resort special is its plethora of fun, friendly, and magical Disney Character Friends. Due to their sheer size and popularity, the Parks often offer meet-and-greet experiences or character sightings that are considered incredibly “rare.”
Such is the case for the cast of one of Disney’s newest family films, Encanto (2021), which swept the nation last November into a frenzy for “la Familia Madrigal.”
Encanto tells the story of a magically gifted family who guards a sacred candle within their anthropomorphic home called “Casita.” Danger strikes when the family’s hidden traumas threaten the stability of both their relationships and their home.
Plucky protagonist, Mirabel Madrigal, the only family member to be born without magic powers, must band together with her relatives in order to save the day.

Previously, the wildly popular Mirabel made her Walt Disney World debut in the Character Cavalcade this past summer, but until today was unavailable to interact directly with Guests.
While Mirabel and her infamous Tio Bruno have been greeting Guests of the West Coast Parks, a tweet posted this morning by user @parkhopperzach hinted at Mirabel’s potential presence in Orlando for the annual runDisney event. (Though he didn’t seem as excited to see her as Mickey’s adorable bear, Duffy.)
So Mirabel made her WDW meet and greet debut this morning at runDisney, but that’s irrelevant when I got to meet DUFFY on the course 🥲

Other characters waiting to congratulate runners at the finish line included Miguel from Disney Pixar’s Coco in mariachi regalia, the Three Cabelleros, Remy and Emile from Ratatouille, and Frozen’s Olaf.
Only time will tell if future plans for Walt Disney World’s Entertainment Department include making Mirabel and the rest of the Madrigal familia a permanent fixture at the Parks.
