If you have been reading the news from Disney Tips, then you probably know all about the trials and tribulations that Hong Kong Disneyland has gone through during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Disney Park has had several rounds of closures and openings, but its latest closing occurring on January 7, 2022 was originally only scheduled to be for two weeks.

The closures were extended several times, with the last extension originally planned to end on February 23, 2022. This was not able to happen due to the Chinese Government in Beijing ordering the city to make fighting the virus its “overriding mission.” Hong Kong Disneyland answered the call and remained the last Disney Resort to stay closed during the pandemic.

We all remember how we felt when the other Disney Parks were finally reopened. It all started with Walt Disney World in Florida on July 7, 2020, then with Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, respectively, following suit in the Spring of 2021.

Well, it may have taken a little longer than planned, but finally, Hong Kong Disneyland officially re-opened on April 21, 2022. Guests were lined up to enter after being without their Disney fix for so long. Disney also had a special surprise in store for their Guests to celebrate the reopening.

In true Disney fashion, Hong Kong Disneyland reopened with a special cavalcade called “The Magic is Now.” Guests were surprised with a cavalcade filled with their favorite Disney Characters and Cast Members. Hong Kong Disneyland’s Good Will Ambassadors, Lily Chan and Tony Dick were all on hand to welcome back the surprised and enthusiastic Guests. Michael Moriarty, the Hong Kong Disneyland Managing Director, also got in on the action during the reopening festivities.

If you happen to be in the Hong Kong area and would like to visit the Park, then there are a few things you will need to know. First, for the foreseeable future, Hong Kong Disneyland will only be operating five days per week. The Park will remain closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Secondly, Hong Kong Disneyland is implementing capacity controls. Guests will need to make use of the Park Reservation system, just like all of the other Disney Parks around the world. In lieu of this, you need a valid ticket to make the reservation. Guests are also required by law to use the “LeaveHomeSafe” App and to fulfill the “Vaccine Pass” requirements upon entering the Park.

In order to get the most out of your visit, it is suggested that Guests purchase the Disney Premier Access. This premier add-on will provide you with priority access to some of the most popular attractions in the Park, such as Mystic Manor, Iron Man Experience, or Mickey’s PhilharMagic just to name a few. Disney Premier Access allows Guests to purchase priority access for up to 8 attractions and 1 show.  So, if it is feasible, we would suggest this option.

If you have an unused Park ticket, date-specific products, or a Disney Resort Hotel booking then you should certainly contact Hong Kong Disneyland through their website.

It’s nice to see the magic finally returning to every corner of the world. These trying times remind us of something that Walt Disney once said, “Never get bored or cynical. Yesterday is a thing of the past.” We couldn’t agree more and can’t wait for tomorrow.
