Annual Passholders Shut Out of Cosmic Rewind’s Opening Day

Featuring Spaceship Earth, Mission: SPACE, Test Track, Frozen Ever After, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, there’s so much for Guests to look forward to during a theme park day at EPCOT.

And joining the Walt Disney World Park’s long list of thrilling attractions and all-new nighttime spectacular, Harmonious, is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind this summer!

But some select Disney Guests wishing to be there on the new roller coaster’s opening day may be disappointed.

The exciting new indoor rollercoaster will feature the popular Marvel characters played by Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper in an all-new, spinning coaster that brings the comedic Marvel story to life. The opening date for the eagerly-awaited roller coaster was announced back on April 4, with Memorial Day Weekend seeing the debut of this Guardians of the Galaxy ride.

Beginning May 27, Guests can experience Walt Disney World Resort’s family-thrill coaster as they travel from the planet Xandar to Earth to create the first “other-world” showcase at EPCOT – the Wonders of Xandar pavilion. But Annual Passholders wishing to be the first to ride Cosmic Rewind will be disappointed.

All Annual Passholder Park Pass Reservations are completely booked for the opening day of the EPCOT coaster. All EPCOT Park Pass Reservations for Incredi Pass, Sorcerer Pass, Pirate Pass, and Pixie Dust Pass holders are gone for May 27, but the rest of the weekend is open, as seen below:

At the time of writing, Disney Park Reservations for theme park ticket holders and select Resort Guests remain available. There is still hope, however, for Annual Passholders who didn’t secure an EPCOT reservation for May 27!

Disney revealed that Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members will be able to sign up for an exclusive preview of the attraction before May 27. Although the dates of the registration are not yet confirmed, members should keep an eye on their email for further instructions in the following days or weeks.

The Park Pass Reservation system has caused frustration for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Guests since its launch during the phased reopening of Disney Parks after the pandemic. This new system requires those who wish to visit a Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park to have both a valid Park ticket as well as a reservation for the Park you wish to visit on that day.

It offers three separate tiers for reservations: single or multi-day ticket holders, onsite Resort Guests, and Annual Passholders. At the moment, Walt Disney World’s Annual Pass sales are on hold, with no indication of when these will become available again.

The availability calendar for Park Passes at the Walt Disney World Resort now ends on January 18, 2024, which of course is almost two years from now. Any time a new ride or experience launches at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom, be sure to get on the Park Pass booking system quickly if you want that coveted debut day opportunity!

Disney Executive and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Geoff Morrell, accidentally leaked the grand opening of Cosmic Rewind on Twitter, before swiftly deleting his Tweet. It seems he was correct, though, with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind set to officially debut on May 27 at EPCOT.

If you’re planning to be there on opening day, spots are still available for theme park ticket holders and Resort Guests, but these will surely go quickly too.

This will be the second Guardians of the Galaxy-themed ride at Disney Parks. Over at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, the Avengers Campus features Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, the takeover of the previous Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction.

Directed by James Gunn, Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) stars Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Dave Bautista (Drax) as the team up to save the galaxy. A third film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, is expected to be released in 2023 alongside two spinoffs coming to Disney + in 2022: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and I Am Groot.

We can’t wait to be there Memorial Weekend and finally experience this unique and exciting roller coaster in EPCOT!
