A New Treasure

A sister ship to the Disney Wish that debuted in 2022, the Disney Treasure will hold 4,000 passengers within 1,254 staterooms. It will feature a Grand Hall with blue and gold touches and statues of Aladdin and Jasmine at the bottom of the main staircase.

The layout of the ship will be similar to the Disney Wish including multiple swimming pools, restaurants, lounges for adults, clubs for kids and teens, and a special stop at the cruise line’s private island.

The ship will have 15 decks of rooms and venues and has been stated to allow Guests to enjoy their own adventure on the high seas. Perhaps it’s this mysterious call to adventure or quest, that has caused Disney Treasure to feature Captain Hook and Peter Pan at the ship’s helm.

In newly released images, the Disney Treasure will showcase Captain Hook popping out of a port hole and shaking his hook at Peter Pan, who paints the name “Disney Treasure” along the ship’s back.

Other sterns on Disney cruise ships have included Rapunzel painting Disney Wish, Dumbo painting the Disney Fantasy, Goofy painting the Disney Magic, Donald painting the Disney Wonder, and Mickey Mouse commanding the brooms in Fantasia to paint the Disney Dream.

Other Surprises?

The Walt Disney Company is keeping many additional details under wraps (as they like to do with many movies and theme park attractions). But in a teaser video released at last year’s D23, characters such as Miguel from Coco, Moana, and the Hitch Hiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion all appear aboard in various portholes. It’s unclear exactly what that implies – will those be the restaurant themes, unique character meet and greets, or something entirely different?

Either way…we will all know soon enough!

About Steven Wilk

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
