One of the best parts of the Dapper Day event across the Disney Parks is the creative way in which fans utilize the vintage aesthetic to reference favorite characters, attractions, and even long-lost childhood nostalgia.

Dapper Day, a bi-annual fan event at the Disney Parks, is in its own words:
an organization that celebrates fun, refined style from yesterday and today. We’re best known for producing events that let you “step out in style” at museums, amusement parks, and other destinations… Our Disney events usually include a “DAPPER DAY Outing to the Parks,” plus other happenings outside the parks such as our DAPPER DAY Expo (in the Disneyland Hotel Exhibit Hall).
What’s more, it’s become so popular amongst vintage and Disney lovers alike that Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products even offer their own retro-style dresses inspired by favorite attractions and films for Guests to wear during the event, or any time!

For two Disney fans and Dapper Day attendees, Sarah Sterling and Jessica McDonald, the Expo offered the perfect opportunity to provide a throwback to a Disney franchise that characterized many Millenials’ childhoods.
Produced from 1986 into the early 2000s, the Disney Sing Along Tapes were a short video series released on VHS and laserdisc that featured clips of the Disney Parks and Resorts alongside animation and references to popular Disney songs and characters.
Professor Owl, a character introduced in 1953, hosted the karaoke-style sing-along, with on-screen lyrics notated by a bouncing Mickey Mouse-style ball.
Sterling, a former Youtuber from a Disney Parks fan channel who currently works for D23, dressed in a Disneybound inspired by Professor Owl, while friend McDonald rocked a 70s-style outfit representing another Sing Along character, Bertie Birdbrain.

In addition, Sterling even carried a black Mickey-shaped purse meant to represent the “bouncing ball” which guided viewers through the sing-along portions of the tape. The Disney duo even filmed a video of them reenacting this sequence while visiting the Disneyland Resort over the weekend for the Dapper Day Expo. Give it a watch below, and transport yourself back in time!

As always, a huge number of fantastic outfits from die-hard “Dis-nerds” emulated characters and attractions in high style. There was even a reunion for Walt Disney “himself” and Mickey Mouse!
If these fab fits have got you inspired to attend, you can find tickets for the Dapper Day Expo and dates for all events on their website. Those wishing to enter their respective Park should book tickets and reservations online through the official Disney website for their Resort prior to arrival.
