There are many questions one asks themselves before planning and embarking on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. In addition to deciding where to stay, how to get there, and how many days you’ll spend in the parks, there’s one more question. Is Disney Genie Plus worth it?

Should You Get Disney Genie Plus?
First, I’d like to explain what Disney Genie Plus gets you (and what it doesn’t).

Disney Genie is a free app you can use when visiting a Walt Disney World theme park. It will provide you with information on attractions, such as wait times and showtimes, as well as help you place mobile orders and schedule your day. But Disney Genie PLUS is a paid element of the app that allows you to skip lines on some of the most popular attractions with a Disney Genie Lightning Lane pass.
Not All Prices Are the Same
The cost of Disney Genie Plus will vary depending on which park you visit and how busy the park is on that day. Walt Disney World has smart enough technology to adjust the service price based on demand. So, as the value of it goes up, so does the price. With this in mind, the cost can range from $16-$35 per person per day.
Is Disney Genie Plus Worth It?
Yes…No…and Maybe. It all depends on various factors that will impact your vacation. On our most recent trip to Walt Disney World Resort, we splurged for Disney Genie Plus every day at every park. Although this was an expense we didn’t enjoy paying, it improved our Disney experience.
Although most lines in the theme parks weren’t terrible (at least compared to past years), we were also traveling in one of the hottest months of the year with a baby. As such, part of our goal was to see and do as much as possible, knowing that we would likely not stay until the park closed.
And thanks to Disney Genie Plus, we could do just that at every park. It allowed us to hit almost every attraction we wanted to see in eight hours or less. But if we were traveling with a larger group of people and planning to stay at the park from open to close, we probably wouldn’t have splurged on the new “Disney fastpass” system.
It Does Not Include Everything
Something important to know is that if you decide to purchase Disney Genie Plus, you will not be able to line-skip every ride. It is not eligible for Tron Lightcycle Run or the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom, or Star Wars Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios.

If you wish to skip the lines on these newer E-ticket attractions, they require a SEPARATE purchase. This special line-skipping pass is called an Individual Lightning Lane and can easily cost another $20 per person per RIDE.
Again, we splurged on this to get the most out of our day because we were only planning to be in the parks until the evening. But if we were with a larger group or staying later, we may have skipped that purchase as it could easily add up to another $100 or more per day.
Know Disney Genie Plus Limits
Something worth noting is that you can only use a Disney Genie Plus Lightning Lane once per day for each attraction. So, once you’ve used it on Space Mountain or Expedition Everest, you’re done. If you wish to go on those rides a second time, you either go in the regular line OR return a second day and purchase another Disney Genie Plus.
However, you are unlimited in the number of attractions, you can use it on. Therefore, if you learn how to use the app, you can efficiently skip every available attraction in the park within a few hours.
So Again…Is Disney Genie Plus Worth it?
It can be. But if you are considering a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, it’s worth figuring it into your budget. Depending on your schedule, the weather, and park hours, you may run into limitations that reduce your time in the Disney park.

However, you can easily skip the added expense and enjoy any attraction. Just know you’ll be standing in line more…but probably only as much as you would have been at a park visit pre-COVID.
