Is One Night at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Enough?

So you’ve decided that you definitely don’t want to miss out on the fun of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Excellent decision! Regardless of how long you plan to stay during the Halloween season, a visit to Walt Disney World should definitely include an evening in Magic Kingdom Park for all things Halloween.

But we know what’s coming next; ‘does attending one Party give you enough time to experience all of the spooky fun that is on offer?’ Whilst it’s only you and your fellow Guests who can decide, let us help you out in your decision making.

It’s a yes from us if…

Here are the reasons why we would say that attendance at one of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events is enough.

Halloween is not your favorite season

No judgments are made if you prefer to pass on celebrating Halloween. It wasn’t a big event for us until we experienced Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – then everything changed! Disney Halloween adds a whole lot of magic to the generic Halloween celebrations, so you may find that you enjoy celebrating Halloween the Disney way, if you’re vacationing around the season.

You prefer to ride the attractions

Due to the Disney Halloween Party being a ticketed event, the number of Guests in Magic Kingdom is limited compared to regular evenings in the Disney Park. Due to the other offerings available during the Party events, you are likely to find that the rides in Magic Kingdom have shorter lines than usual. This makes it a great time to enjoy your favorite attractions inside the Disney Park, and maybe even multiple times.

You won’t want to miss the themed overlays that certain rides have during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Attractions that you’ll definitely want to ride during your evening in Magic Kingdom theme park include the Mad Tea Party; Space Mountain; and Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course, you’ll also want to pay a visit to the Haunted Mansion at this special time of year.

You have younger Guests in your party

Whilst Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a lot of fun, it can be extremely tiring for all Guests, never mind the younger Guests in your party. The event runs through to 12:00 a.m. each evening, and we recommend staying until the end to get your money’s worth. With this in mind, you may decide to skip it this time and save it for your next Disney vacation during the Halloween season, when the younger Guests are a little older and will be able to see the evening though.

Here are the reasons why we would recommend attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party more than once.

Limited-time Disney Parades, Shows, and Fireworks

The Halloween Party inside of Magic Kingdom offers Guests the chance to see Mickey’s Boo To You Parade. Prepare for an incredibly catchy Halloween Parade soundtrack, paired with favorite and rare characters dressed in their Halloween attire. You will not be disappointed! Shown twice throughout each Halloween event, you are sure not to miss at least one viewing. However, as you well know, getting a great spot for a Disney parade results in a pause in the rest of the fun offered around the Disney theme park. This is especially true if you want to secure a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. or with a view of Cinderella Castle.

It is not uncommon for Guests to view the first showing of Mickey’s Boo To You Parade from the Hub in front of Cinderella Castle, followed by a viewing of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Guests will then stay in position for Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular; the Halloween fireworks above Cinderella Castle. If you choose to do this, expect at least 75 minutes away from the rest of the Halloween fun that is taking place.

Appearances from rare Disney Characters

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party brings out some of Disney’s most popular characters, which in turn attract extremely long lines. Favorite character appearances at the Halloween Party include:

  • Seven Dwarfs
  • Jack Skellington & Sally
  • Genie
  • Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde
  • Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck in their very own Halloween costumes
  • Winnie the Pooh and friends dressed in the cutest Halloween costumes you ever did see
  • Tarzan, Jane & Terk
  • Lotso
  • Queen of Hearts & the Tweedles

You could easily spend most of the Halloween Party in line to meet rare characters, including a Disney villain or two unless you plan your time wisely. Whilst we recommend that you enter the line for the Seven Dwarfs (Storybook Circus) or Jack & Sally (Liberty Square) upon entry to the Magic Kingdom at 4:00 p.m., you aren’t likely to be able to see all characters in one night. For that reason, attending at least two Halloween Parties will help you to see your favorite characters as well as enjoy the rest of the fun that these events bring.

Speaking of special character appearances, you must pass by Liberty Square at Halloween. Some of the 999 happy haunts make an appearance outside of the Haunted Mansion. Madame Carlotta and Madame Renatta are great fun to see and interact with on the lawn outside of the Haunted Mansion. You may want to set aside more than 5 minutes here, as it’s not every day you get to interact with some of the residents of the Haunted Mansion, is it?

You won’t want to miss the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quarter that makes an appearance in Frontierland too, during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. You’ll get to enjoy the Dapper Dans as you’ve never seen them before!

Donning Halloween Costumes is your favorite thing

If you love to be creative and dress up in a Halloween costume, then you’ll absolutely welcome multiple occasions to do so. When attending two Parties, we love to go in full costume for one party; the other, we like to wear coordinating outfits, such as bright shirts. Remember that it’s still warm and humid when the Halloween Party runs, so you may need to choose wisely when it comes to dressing in costume!

Limited edition Disney snacks are a must

We all know that Disney takes every opportunity to bring limited edition snacks and drinks to the Disney Parks for Guests to enjoy. Halloween is no exception, and you are likely to want to feast upon the delectable Disney dining offerings the spooky season brings. With so many sweet treats on offer though, it can be hard to fit them into one evening. Two helpings of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party offer you a great way to spread those Halloween treats out.

Don’t forget that you’ll also have the opportunity to trick-or-treat around Magic Kingdom Park. You won’t want to miss out on the fun trails that take place around the theme park, and fill your treat bag full of sweet treats.

Disney PhotoPass

If you love to take advantage of a magic shot with Disney PhotoPass Cast Members then Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a must. There are several magic shot opportunities around Magic Kingdom Park. Plan to allow time to seek out the Cast Members around the theme park during your spooky evenings.

The Verdict

Our verdict is that attending two Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party events offers you the opportunity to experience everything that this special event in Magic Kingdom involves. You can spread the spook-tacular Disney Halloween fun across two evenings, with both events providing a magical experience. Be sure to don a different Halloween costume each evening, to make your Disney photos extra special! And if you plan to attend more than two of these special events in Walt Disney World, then we are definitely not judging – you absolutely have our permission to do so!
