The Disney Parades That Guests Don’t Know About

Disney parades are a well-loved part of the Disney experience. During a Walt Disney World vacation, it is customary to claim your spot and watch the Festival of Fantasy Parade in Magic Kingdom at least once.

If you haven’t watched the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, can you really say you’ve been to Magic Kingdom?

Currently, Guests have the option to see their favorite Disney friends travel along the parade route in Magic Kingdom twice per day. Since the return of the Disney Parade, Festival of Fantasy travels from Frontierland to Main Street, U.S.A.  via Liberty Square and The Hub in front of Cinderella Castle at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade returned to Walt Disney World on March 9, 2022, following the Covid pandemic. This date is significant as it was the anniversary of the debut of the Disney parade back in 2014.

Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is currently the only Parade available for Guests to experience at the Walt Disney World Resort. We are still awaiting the return of the Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party to Magic Kingdom.

This musical celebration invites Guests to dance and sing along with beloved Disney pals to celebrate Mickey and Minnie. It’s a parade that usually makes its way down Main Street, U.S.A. to the Hub in front of Cinderella Castle several times each day, and we’re very much hoping it returns again soon.

Currently, Magic Kingdom is the only Walt Disney World theme park that offers Guests the opportunity to see a Parade. Previously, the other Disney Parks have featured Parades, including:

  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Block Party Bash which ended in 2011
  • EPCOT – Tapestry of Dreams Parade which ended in 2003
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade which ended in 2014

There are two parades though that take place in the Walt Disney World Resort that most Guests don’t even know about. Let us share these secret parades that you can enjoy during your next Disney vacation to Lake Buena Vista.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort

Located on the shores of Bay Lake, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a unique Disney Resort. Whilst other Disney Resorts offer Guests accommodation in the form of Guest Rooms, Studios, and Deluxe Villas, Fort Wilderness offers two types of alternative accommodation.

The Disney Resort is split into two sections: The Campsites; and The Cabins. The Cabins are perfect for those Guests who prefer to camp in style, or as we like to say, glamp! The Campsites offer Guests who prefer to use their own equipment, a chance to camp right in the heart of the Disney magic.

Regardless of the section Guests stay in, they are nestled amongst acres of pine and cypress forest, in a Resort that evokes the timeless beauty of the American frontier.

Such a large Resort requires ease of transportation from one place to the next. Guests have the opportunity to cycle and walk around the Resort, as well as use an internal bus loop. But there is one mode of transport that is unique to this Disney Resort that Guests can also use – a golf cart! “Hang on!” you say, “they’re only for golfers!”

But in fact, you are wrong! Guests staying in Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort can hire golf carts for the duration of their vacation, making it easier for them to navigate their way around. And the fun doesn’t stop at hiring them!

Seasonal Parades

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Guests are welcome to decorate their golf carts at any time of year. This is particularly encouraged at Halloween and Christmas. Why? Well because each year, the Disney Resort hosts three golf cart Parades, to allow decorations to be showcased and celebrated. Golf carts are even judged at the Meadow Trading Post, so you can bet that there are some incredible designs to admire! The golf cart parades include:

  • Fourth of July
  • Halloween
  • Christmas

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July Golf Cart Parade at Fort Wilderness has been known to be led around the Resort by a band, or a rider on horseback carrying the American flag. It’s a parade that truly honors this special day, displaying red, white, and blue proudly. If you’re looking for a way to escape some of the Independence Day crowds in the Disney Parks, this is an awesome alternative.

The Halloween Golf Cart Parade allows Guests to showcase their talent in creating incredible designs of golf cart, inspired by favorite Disney movies and characters. We’ve heard that this is usually the most popular parade to take place at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Even Cast Members are known to join in, such as the Housekeeping and Custodial teams. This parade usually takes place on Halloween, so it’s a great opportunity to break away from the crowds that can be found in the Disney Parks at this time of year.

The Christmas Golf Cart Parade begins the festivities of Christmas during the afternoon of Christmas Eve at Disney’s Fort Wildnerness. A festive horse and carriage usually leads the parade of golf carts that are decorated in wonderful Christmas attire and themes. This is a great way to begin an evening spent at the Disney Resort. Spend some time once the sun has set, wandering the Resort and admiring all of the Christmas decorations Guests have outside of their campsite and Cabins. It’s a time when the Resort turns into a Christmas wonderland!

Viewing the Golf Cart Parades

Whilst you have to be a Guest at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort to take part in the golf cart parades, any Guests can watch the parade and celebrate the incredibly talented Guests and their creations. To find your viewing spot, we recommend getting to the Disney Resort via the Boat Landing from Magic Kingdom. You’ll arrive at Fort Wilderness near the Settlement Trading Post and Pioneer Hall. Ask Cast Members at either of these locations for a recommended viewing spot of the parade.

The Fort Wilderness golf cart parades are unique Disney Parades that you certainly don’t want to miss. We highly recommend planning a visit to Fort Wilderness during your next Disney vacation that coincides with one of these unique Disney parades. We’re sure that you won’t be disappointed!
