For those wanting to dine with Beauty and the Beast or go on a comedic Jungle Cruise, Magic Kingdom Park is the theme park they need to visit.
From the thrills of Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain, to classic Fantasyland rides like Winnie the Pooh, Mad Tea Party, and “it’s a small world” – Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida has it all.
With the popular Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as well as the return of the Festival of Fantasy parade and normal character meet and greets, it seems there are a lot of experiences to keep Guests busy until the evening. Guests visiting the Park in May, however, will have to rush to get everything done, as the Park is closing early on a couple of select nights.
For those planning their Disney vacation in advance and trying to get Park Pass reservations, operating hours for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom are usually released around 60 days out.
There are two days looking different than the rest, though, in Magic Kingdom Park’s hours. Magic Kingdom will be closing early on May 3 and May 15, 2022.
The Magic Kingdom Park opens at 9:00 a.m. but closes at 4:30 p.m, with the hours on the My Disney Experience app and the Walt Disney World calendar both showing the same times. Typically, Disney’s Magic Kingdom is open from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m, with Park Hopper available from 2:00 p.m. every day.
Those wishing to get dinner reservations at restaurants like Cinderella’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest will have to either choose lunch dining times, or find other dining locations at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs.
Because of the early closure, Disney Enchantment, the Park’s fireworks show celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, will also not be performed on these days.
The early closures in May are for the delayed Cast Member service celebrations. These parties are for Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members celebrating service milestones in 2020 and 2021.
These Cast Member events at Magic Kingdom were canceled back in January due to cold and rainy weather, with another Cast Celebration then organized in February. The Cast Service Celebration honors Cast Members and their service milestones, but the pandemic postponed this special event.
Back on April 6, Disney’s Hollywood Studios also closed early. McDonald’s restaurant franchisees were treated to a private party at Walt Disney World Resort’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park, enjoying an evening of food, attractions, and no wait times.
If you’d like the Florida Park to yourself, you can book various venues throughout Disney Parks for private corporate events, group celebrations, or a wedding – if you have enough money, of course.
Having Magic Kingdom Park to yourself is not exactly cheap, however, with a $30,000 fee just for having your wedding ceremony here, and rumor has it that the entire package itself starts at $180,000.
If a Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme park does close early like this for a private event, Disney Park Hopping is available from 2:00 p.m. Guests with Park Hopper tickets can go to another one of Walt Disney World’s theme parks for the evening, while Guests with one-day tickets should probably choose a different Park on these special days.
