Attracting millions of people around the world for celebrations, the Walt Disney World Resort has remained a popular destination spot for honeymooners.
Disney World honeymoons have become so popular that fans have coined the term ‘Disneymoon’ for this once-in-a-lifetime trip. After all, what’s not to love about a Disney honeymoon? Is there any place more ideal to bask in the joyful start of your happily ever after? (Obviously, nothing beats a Disney vacation.)
Not only can you and your Disney-loving spouse be surrounded by the Disney magic, but you can also benefit from first-class Cast Member service and dreamy Resort amenities. Some may dismiss the Walt Disney World Resort as a honeymooners’ paradise because of other visiting families. Some claim that romance suffers in a vacation spot that caters to children. Fortunately, that simply isn’t true.
More than ever, the Parks and Resorts have excelled in catering to Guests of all ages. With a growing list of fine dining restaurants at Disney Springs, luxurious hotels, and one-of-a-kind bars and lounges, there is more than enough to fill a honeymoon itinerary. Keep in mind though, packing for a romantic ‘Disneymoon’ will be different than packing for a family road trip.
Take out your note pads newlyweds! Your is calling and here are some items we recommend you throw in your luggage. (And if the hasn’t happened yet, put some of these items on your !)
Just Married Disney Gear
Most engaged couples get at least one or two sets of “We Got Engaged/Married” mugs. For your Walt Disney World honeymoon though, we recommend you stock up on fashion accessories that shout “I just got married!” to fellow travelers.
The Disney Parks sell specialty bride and groom Minnie and Mickey Mouse ears/hats, but you’ll want to add to the collection. Online retailers like Amazon and Etsy have a slew of “Just Married” t-shirt designs for you to choose from. Also, make sure you ask for a free celebration button at your Disney Resort or at Guest Relations. Wear it on your shirt or attach it to your purse strap for extra attention.
Speaking of attention, we’re pushing this swag so you’ll get extra attention. Not only will other Guests congratulate you but Cast Members have also been known to throw in magical extras for newlyweds. This can include impromptu Lightning Lane access, access to a better view for fireworks, or free Mickey ice cream bars. These perks aren’t guaranteed, but you have a better chance by announcing a happily ever after status at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme parks.
Stylish Outfits
You should always prioritize comfort over style for a long Disney Park day, but honeymoons are a little different. Even if you didn’t splurge on the Grand Floridian Resort or Polynesian Village Resort, we strongly suggest you book at least a couple of dinners at Signature hotel restaurants. (The is a date night staple!)
You can still benefit from the romantic and serene atmosphere with a less scary vacation price tag. This also gives you a chance to leave the theme park hustle, freshen up, and change into a flattering ensemble. Pack at least a couple of outfits that make you feel sleek and sophisticated. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could even book a private Disney photo session via the Capture Your Moment enhancement at the Magic Kingdom.
Is there a better way to commemorate your Disney vacation than to get professional photos while looking fabulous? Either way, have some classy wardrobe staples for your honeymoon.
Spa/Pool Day Attire
After the stress of planning a wedding, you’ll need at least one afternoon (or whole day) to relax poolside without a care in the world. Resorts vary in terms of amenities, but every Disney Resort Hotel has a pool and plenty of lounge chairs. If you want to indulge, book an appointment or two at a Disney spa, like The Grand Floridian Resort Senses Spa. Couples’ massages, facials, pedicures, and access to heavenly lounges reserved for Guests await you in this one-of-a-kind oasis.
To enjoy your Disney spa or pool day, make sure you pack a couple of swimsuits, cover-ups, comfortable flips flops, sun hats, and extra sunscreen if necessary. (You don’t want to get stuck purchasing these things last minute in an airport!) Come prepared and enjoy the relaxation you’ve needed since the planning started.
…Also, Leave Room in Your Suitcase
Allow us to switch gears. While it is important to know what to pack, you don’t want to overdo it. Remember, this could be your last trip before expanding your family and hauling 4+ suitcases through the MCO airport.
We’d recommend leaving some space in your luggage or packing an extra bag to bring home some meaningful souvenirs. Within reason, this could be the trip to finally splurge on an original piece of artwork or those Mickey and Minnie personalized champagne flutes you’ve been eyeing. Regardless of how much you pack, do consider bringing something home that you and your loved one will enjoy for years.
Think of it this way. How many souvenirs are tied to something as special as a wedding and honeymoon?
With this list on hand, we hope you’re feeling more prepared for the ultimate ‘Disneymoon’! From all of us here at Disney Tips, we wish you a wonderful trip and more importantly, a happy ever after for you and your one true love.
