The past weekend has seen the most popular Disney fan event take place in Anaheim Convention Center. Across three days, the D23 Expo has brought news, sneak peaks, unique experiences, visions for the future, and so much more to the Disney community. We now know of the Disney movies and series that will be coming to Disney+ in the near future. We’ve also learned about the celebrations that will take place over the next year, as The Walt Disney Company turns 100, including a new Disney title scene, and the return of Happily Every After to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.
Yesterday, Josh D’Amaro took to the stage at the Disney Parks, Experiences & Products presentation to announce all that is coming and envisioned for the Disney Parks around the world, including new meet-and-greets, all-new attractions, the expansion of lands, and so much more. And there was one piece of news that we were particularly excited to hear about, relating to a brand new Resort experience for Guests to enjoy.
A Reimagined Hotel
Whilst each of the Disney Parks were mentioned in Josh D’Amaro’s presentation, most of the news related directly to the theme parks rather than the Disney Resort hotels. Guests will be aware though that there are several Disney hotels around the world that are currently expanding, developing and being reimagined. One of those is, of course, the Disneyland Hotel in Disneyland Paris.
The Disneyland Hotel is located right at the entrance of Disneyland Park; in fact Guests enter the Disney Park by passing right underneath the second floor of the grand hotel. Its iconic exterior may look familiar to Guests who frequent the Walt Disney World Resort, having similar architecture to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Red rooftops sit atop a pretty pink and white building inspired by Victorian architecture; green canopies add details to some of the lower windows of the hotel and the classic Mickey clock takes center stage near the highest turret.
Despite being the most luxurious of the Disney hotels that occupy Disneyland Paris, the Disneyland Hotel has been closed for ‘an exciting transformation’ since March 31, 2021. Whilst the original closing date was postponed by 3 months, it was expected that the hotel would be closed for around 2 years. The renovation was to take place to make the hotel more magical than ever and to enhance the impeccable 5-star service and unrivalled hospitality Disney is known for. And if the details that were released at the D23 Expo are anything to go by, then we know that Guests are in for a truly special experience when it opens its doors once more.
Disney Princess Theming
The Disneyland Hotel’s transformation will bring a fairy tale kingdom fit for Princes and Princesses of all ages to the Disneyland Paris Resort. It is intended that the flagship hotel will ooze five-star elegance and and luxury, with theming inspired by favorite Disney Princesses and their movies.
The Walt Disney Studios Park is currently undergoing a huge expansion, that will bring a stunning lake and promenade of unique gardens to the theme park. Guests will follow the path across the lake that will lead them to the brand new Frozen-themed area. This isn’t the only place that Guests will be immersed in the Kingdom of Arendelle at Disneyland Paris though; it has been confirmed that Frozen is to play an important role in the reimagined Disneyland Paris Hotel.
Opening in 2024, with hotel reservations opening in late 2023, the Disneyland Hotel will become the ultimate Disney royal address in Europe. There will be a royal theme throughout the hotel, with Guest public areas paying homage to beloved Disney films and their characters, including: Beauty & The Beast (1991); Cinderella (1950); Sleeping Beauty (1959); Tangled (2010); and Frozen (2013). We expect that the theming will be uniquely refined to showcase these well-loved stories in a grand and luxurious way.
As Guests enter their hotel rooms and suites, they will be completely immersed into the story inspired by their accommodation. This will be a stunning new addition to the luxurious hotel; previously the only rooms that were inspired by Disney movies and characters were the suites that were part of the Castle Club, the Disneyland Hotel’s concierge level accommodation. Concept art seems to indicate that suites will be inspired by Frozen, which will make a perfect link with the brand-new expansion that is coming to the Walt Disney Studios Park.
Renovation of the five-star Disney hotel will extend beyond the Guests rooms too. The technology used throughout the hotel will be upgraded, offering the latest technologies for maximum Guest comfort. Additionally, the pool area will receive an expansion, as well as the spa area, offering ultimate relaxation after a day in the Disney theme parks. The restaurants and bars will also be updated to reflect the theming of the rest of the hotel, and to provide new and exciting experience for hotel Guests.
Having previously visited the Disneyland Paris Hotel, we really are excited to see the hotel open to Guests once more, but this time with a whole new level of magic that the renovations will bring. The royal theming will tie into so many different elements of the Disney theme parks that are located just outside of its doors, providing Guests with an immersive experience from the moment they arrive, right through to when they leave to return home.
Have you visited Disneyland Resort Paris yet? If not, then 2024 could be the perfect year to visit, and witness all that there is to see right in the heart of Europe.
