According to Bob Iger, a Merger Between Disney and Apple Is “Pure Speculation”

The month of November has been incredibly eventful for the Walt Disney Company.

Earlier in the month, Magic Key Passes resumed sales for Disneyland Resort and quickly sold out in less than two days (some of which sold out in less than 24 hours).

In the middle of the month, Bob Chapek was unexpectedly ousted from his position as the chief executive officer of the Walt Disney Company, with Bob Iger re-taking his place. The irony has not been lost on Disney fans, who were elated to see the change.

Over the Thanksgiving festivities, Walt Disney Animation Studios released a film that flopped so poorly that it made Disney history.

And finally, earlier this week, Bob Iger held an employee-wide Town Hall in which he took questions and shared his answers.

During this meeting, someone asked Iger about the recent rumors regarding a merger between Apple and Disney.

These rumors seemed to hold due to Iger’s reputation as a Disney CEO who is constantly expanding. After all, the purchases of PIXAR Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm were all made during Iger’s time as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company.

Not only that, but Iger and the late co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, were close friends. Iger has even said in the past that a collaboration between Apple and Disney would have been discussed if Jobs were still alive.

However, during the recent Town Hall, Iger put those rumors to rest, saying they were nothing but “pure speculation not rooted in any fact,” according to a report made by Investopedia.

It seems that, at this point, a merger between the two powerhouses is not coming anytime soon.
