Our 2021 Thank You Note To Walt Disney World

Credit: Disney

2021 wasn’t easy, but there are still many reasons to be thankful as we look back on the year. We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Walt Disney World for the many different things that we were able to see and do in 2021.

We are grateful for the magic and memories that Walt Disney World brought us in 2021, and we wanted to say thank you for all of those.

Nighttime Spectaculars

We are thankful that nighttime shows returned to the Walt Disney World skies in 2021.

In Magic Kingdom, we were thrilled to have Happily Ever After return in the evenings to bring projections, music, and fireworks back for the first time since March 2020. It was truly magical to see Tinker Bell fly once again.

In October, although we were sad to see Happily Ever After retired, it was wonderful to see that Disney took time to create a whole new evening show for Disney’s 50th anniversary celebration.

Disney Enchantment brought even more projections to the Magic Kingdom as Main Street, U.S.A. was brought into the show. A new musical score and fantastic fireworks make Disney Enchantment another wonderful way to wrap up an evening in Magic Kingdom.

Over in EPCOT, the temporary fireworks show EPCOT Forever returned to the World Showcase Lagoon giving Guests some nighttime entertainment as they enjoyed the variety of food and drinks around the Theme Park.

Also in October, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration, Guests were finally able to experience the long awaited nighttime show Harmonious.

After months of wondering how the barges in the lagoon would be used in the show, Guests were amazed once again by Disney Imagineering as Harmonious brought extra magic to the night.

We are thankful that Disney continues to bring amazing evening shows to the Theme Parks, and we are glad that 2021 brought two new shows.

New Dining

We want to say thank you to Walt Disney World for bringing us new and delicious dining options throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

In 2021, the long awaited Space 220 Restaurant and Lounge opened in EPCOT, and the wait was worth it. The whole dining experience at Space 220 is truly out of this world.

Guests are raving about not only the dining experience but also the delicious and unique food that is served. This prix fixe menu offers Guests a variety of appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and space themed drinks.

Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we are thankful for the newly opened Steakhouse 71. Replacing the beloved The Wave, Steakhouse 71 has been a welcome surprise at the end of 2021.

Offering amazing food options such as steaks and burgers, Steakhouse 71 has a beautiful decor that throws it back to when Walt Disney World first opened.

We are grateful to have such a fantastic dining location so close to Magic Kingdom! We look forward to eating there many times on future vacations to Walt Disney World.

Finally, we are thankful for a new dining option in EPCOT’s World Showcase. Over in the France pavilion, two new dining options opened.

Le Crêperie de Paris has both a table-service and quick-service option giving Guests a choice in how they want to enjoy these delicious sweet and savory crepes.

We are thankful to Walt Disney World for always bringing new and delicious foods to the Parks and Resorts and offering a variety of choices when on vacation.

Rides and Experiences

We are grateful that Disney is always working to bring us new rides and experiences throughout the four Theme Parks.

In 2021, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure started to shrink Guests to the size of Remy and race them through the kitchen without getting into too much trouble.

Guests are thrilled to have this family-friendly ride in EPCOT’s World Showcase, giving families an additional experience while they are visiting.

Many families are still experiencing Rise of the Resistance and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway for the first time. Even though these two rides have been open for a while now, many Guests either weren’t able to experience them or haven’t been to Walt Disney World since they opened.

Every time we can experience these two highly immersive and technologically advanced rides, we are thankful that Disney is constantly pushing the envelope and trying new things.

We are impressed with the overall experience of these two rides, and they make us excited for what Disney will come up with in the future.

Bringing the Magic

It hasn’t been an easy year once again, but we are thankful that Walt Disney World continues to bring the magic each and every day to Guests.

We are thankful that Disney focuses on the health and safety of the Cast Members and Guests first and foremost, but still pushes to bring magical experiences to Guests on their vacations.

Cavalcades and modified meet and greets are two experiences we are thankful that Disney is providing. It is magical to see and interact with our favorite characters in the Theme Parks and Resorts.

It is great that Disney continues to bring magic to the Guests, while keeping them safe during these difficult times.

It was thrilling to once again see Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater and our favorite princesses over at Princess Fairytale Hall.

Thank you so much, Walt Disney World, for constantly making the magic for Guests during their vacations. You are truly remarkable, and we are thankful for everything you brought us in 2021. We look forward to the new magical experiences that will be coming in 2022.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
