Skip the Lines at Disney with This Easy Hack

No matter what time of year you visit Walt Disney World, you will usually have to plan on spending a good amount of time waiting in lines.

Guests have all come to accept that the lines are part of the deal, whether it’s waiting for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom. Grabbing a bite at Yak and Yeti in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Or even at Gateway Gifts in EPCOT while trying to buy your favorite Disney swag.

Walt Disney World attempted to address this issue back in 2017 when it started allowing Guests to use Mobile Ordering at many Disney restaurants.

Disney stepped it up in December of 2020 when it introduced Mobile Checkout at select Walt Disney World shops. Mobile Checkout allows Guests to check out across the Walt Disney World Resort using the My Disney Experience App.

Guests can use Mobile Checkout for merchandise at a limited number of stores, such as Emporium in Magic Kingdom, Creations Shop in EPCOT, Mickey’s of Hollywood in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Island Mercantile in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and World of Disney in Disney Springs. Recently Walt Disney World has added another popular store in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to the list. 

Guests can now use the Mobile Checkout feature at Discovery Trading Company located on Discovery Island in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The My Disney Experience App describes the shop as a place to “find memories and mementos featuring some of your favorite Disney Characters!”  

If you haven’t used the Mobile Checkout feature in the App before, then we will give you a quick run-down on how you can skip the lines.

While in the My Disney Experience App, you can select the more button and select “Shop in Store”, then you can select from the available stores that offer the time-saving feature. After you select the store you would like, you can then walk around and scan the items you wish to purchase.

When you have fulfilled all of your Disney Merchandise needs, you can select “Check Out”. Then, you can use the credit or debit card that the My Disney Experience App already has saved. The best part is that any discounts you may be eligible for, like Annual Pass or DVC, will automatically be deducted from your total. After you check out, all you have to do is follow the signs for Mobile Checkout and allow the Cast Member to scan the QR confirmation code, and then you are on your way!

We are hoping that the Mobile Checkout feature will become available at more and more Disney World shops as time goes on. This feature definitely saves you lots of time and can allow you to spend it waiting to get on your favorite attractions, instead of waiting to make a merchandise purchase.
