Dearest Disney – please. Pretty… pretty… please do not remove Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue next! On the heels of Spirit of Aloha’s closure, fans plead for Disney to keep its last standing dinner show.

Everyone take a deep breath. We’ve had a LOT to take in as Disney fans recently. A pandemic causing Park closures, a slow crawl on Disney projects, a Disney CEO’s rough reputation, the disappearance of complementary services, the addition of an upcharge FastPass system, and more… it has been overwhelming.

With the not-so-good, we also need to lean on magical moments such as the return of parades at Magic Kingdom Park, a fun-filled 50th-anniversary celebration, buffets making a comeback, and mask mandates dropping, just to name a few.

While today drops excellent news of a new Dole Whip quick-service stop at Disney Springs and the return of Victoria & Albert’s, we are still sad to hear the news that the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Resort will be closing.

The closure offers the addition of new Disney Vacation Club Villas at the Polynesian Resort, but the Disney fandom seems to be having a hard time finding the positive in that news, and instead left wondering, will Hoop-Dee-Doo be next?

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Walt Disney World Resort’s Fort Wilderness debuted on June 30, 1974, and is one of the longest-running dinner shows in American history! That’s over 45 YEARS of dinner show magic. You know a show experience is exceptional when it becomes a timeless tradition for Disney families year after year.

While there have been small changes made to the stage show, the menu (yummy baked beans and ribs!), and its location at Pioneer Hall, that “Hoop-Dee-Doo” song keeps all of us humming along with each memorial Disney vacation. The space has remained quiet since COVID-19 closures in March 2020, and Hoop-Dee-Doo performers and Pioneer Hall Players were laid off.

Now, social media is being flooded as fans plead that Disney keeps its last standing dinner show, Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. Check out the tweets below:

Oh no, villain origin stories in the works!

Yes, please don’t!

We’re totally right there with you.

The packed seating situation was seemingly true for all of our visits as well.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Disney will keep Hoop-Dee-Doo as is? Will they reopen it with a new show? Or will they drop it altogether and build over it like they are doing with Spirit of Aloha?

We promise to keep you posted as soon as we hear something from Disney about this “wild west” dining experience. Until then, we’re going to keep wishing on a star for some good Hoop-Dee-Doo news in the near future!
