Refurbishments and enhancements are to be expected at Walt Disney World Resort. With the massive amount of attractions, Resorts, restaurants, and beyond – changes are always on the horizon. We have learned however that one restaurant refurbishment has unfortunately been put on hold until 2023.
Most recently, we’ve seen Spirit of Aloha closed and demolished to make way for a new tower of hotel rooms coming to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We’ve also seen the opening of new Disney Vacation Club rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Plus, we now know Top of the World Lounge at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower is opening as a new “Villains Lair” in the near future.
Along the Monorail line, another Disney World restaurant is experiencing change at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Narcoossee’s restaurant, one of Grand Floridian’s fine dining experiences which boasts a stunning waterfront setting and seafood cuisine, is closing.
Disney previously noted that Narcoossee’s was scheduled to close on June 18, 2022, with its final dining experience to be held on June 17, 2022. Disney then quietly pushed back its closure through July 4, 2022. Now, it looks like not only has Disney pushed back the closure again, but has also announced the refurbishment will not be open as soon as expected.
Disney’s website now reads, “Beginning July 14, 2022, Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be unavailable due to refurbishment. However, reservations at Narcoossee’s will be available through July 13, 2022. We expect to return next year with an enhanced table service experience.”
What the “enhanced table service experience” will be is still unknown as Disney has yet to reveal details. It wasn’t too long ago when Cítricos reopened at Disney’s Grand Floridian with a Mary Poppins Returns (2018) theme which was a welcomed change.
And while Guests visiting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort can enjoy the lovely Enchanted Rose Lounge and the return of Victoria & Albert’s, we are still waiting on word for the reopening of Disney Resort favorites including the fan-favorite character dining experience 1900 Park Fare and Garden View Tea Room.
What’s to come of Narcoossee’s? The signature dining restaurant with panoramic views of Magic Kingdom Park across the Seven Seas Lagoon is a stunning place that we are sure Disney will bring back as an exceptional “enhanced table service experience”. Unfortunately, we’ll be left waiting until 2023 to experience it.
