Gut-Wrenching New Poll Suggests Disney Has “Lost Its Magic”

The one word to best describe all things Walt Disney World is “magical.” But, according to a new poll that hits hard for fans… Disney has “lost its magic.”

It’s been a rough couple of years. Not only has the COVID-19 pandemic seemingly been an opportunity for The Walt Disney Company to hit the reset button, but we’ve seen several changeovers with former CEO Bob Iger gone and the current CEO Bob Chapek in.

With Chapek at the wheel, fans have been openly discouraged by several Disney experience changes that are impacting not only Disney Park Guests but Disney fans right at home.

With the additional upcharge of former complimentary services such as Disney Guest Resort parking, the removal of Disney’s Magical Express, no more free MagicBands for Resort Guests, and the pay-to-skip-the-line Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane service… it can all be overwhelming.

Plus, yes, ticket prices are on the rise at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, along with lingering Annual Passholders curious when new sales will be available. Let’s not forget to mention the new Park Pass Reservation System that requires Guests to plan which Park they want to visit early in the process… and the lack of flexible Park hopping until after 2:00 pm.

While Disney Park Guests navigate the new Resort and Park changes, fans at home streaming Disney+ are also experiencing price hikes and advertising additions. Plus, it seems like if viewers have to watch one more live-action remake of a beloved Disney animated classic, they are going to scream.

We get it. With Disney being the focus of our day-to-day routine, the impact and grumbles from readers, Cast Members, friends, and family can be hard to hear repeatedly. But has Disney REALLY lost its magic?

According to Fox Business, “A study from gambling website Time2play surveyed 1,927 “Disney World enthusiasts,” and of those, 68.3% reported that the price hikes make them feel like the theme park has “lost its magic.” A whopping 92.6% reported that they believe the high costs for the park has made a vacation for the average family “out of reach.”

Furthermore, the report notes that nearly 50% of respondents reported postponing a trip due to price hikes.

Regardless of poll numbers, it’s impossible for us to visit Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort without feeling the “magic.” From hugging Mickey Mouse to watching Cast Members light up Main Street, U.S.A. with impressive parades, and seeing the Castle light up with fireworks booming above… our hearts are still very much so with all things Disney.

It is, however, gut-wrenching to see the confusion among Disney fans and the disheartening voice among “Disney World enthusiasts.”
